BACKGROUND

Trigild was brought in to manage a boutique hotel in the heart of Pacific Beach, close to dozens of San Diego’s most popular tourist attractions including SeaWorld, Petco Park, the Gaslamp Quarter, Old Town and the San Diego Zoo. The Surfer Beach Hotel is one of only a handful of true beach hotels in the San Diego region.

When Trigild assumed management of the Surfer Beach Hotel, it was experiencing a number of challenges:

  • Maintenance issues as a result of the properties beach front location
  • Increased wear and tear from the wind, water and sand
  • Deferred maintenance that resulted in a poor guest experience and safety concerns
  • Low occupancy and room rates contributed to the poor financial performance
  • Inadequate staffing levels and lack of proper training led to poor guest service and an unfavorable reputation

APPROACH

  • Trigild immediately implemented our Preventative Maintenance Program to resolve existing safety issues and prevent future issues from developing
  • To boost revenue, Trigild implemented a revenue management program that included daily meetings to reinforce objectives and accountability
  • Trigild partnered with Third Party sites to increase visibility and occupancy
  • Hired additional qualified, professional hospitality staff to enhance the guest experience
  • Utilized local public relation efforts and managed sales calls to re-build leisure, group and business relationships in the market area

PERFORMANCE SUMMARY
